HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team went 2-0 on Saturday afternoon by defeating the Gettysburg Bullets and the Baruch College Bearcats by identical 3-0 scores at the Gooding '84 Arena.

Juniors Keri Godbe and Meg O'Day each surpassed the 1,000 kill mark becoming the first players to do so since Rebecca Salvo '10 and Rachel Salvo '10 in the 2009 season. Godbe's 1,019 career kills ranks seventh all-time while O'Day's 1,005 kills is ninth in program history.

In the Fords' 25-18 set one win vs. the Bullets, the home team scored eight consecutive points to push its advantage to 17-10. The Bullets would cut their deficit to five at 20-15, but could not get any closer.

In the third and final set, Haverford went on an 8-2 run to take an 11-6 advantage that it never relinquished. Gettysburg got as close as three points, but Haverford kept its conference rival at bay to sweep the match.

O'Day and junior Nina Mutty led the Fords with 12 kills each. O'Day finished with a .611 attack percentage while Mutty finished with her ninth double-double of the season, tallying 13 digs. Godbe, who reached the 1,000 kill plateau in the match, finished two digs shy of a double-double with eight kills and 12 digs. Junior Jeanna Kenney had a team-high 14 digs in the victory. Laura Bergin led the Bullets with 14 kills in the loss.

The Fords were facing a set point in the first set against the Bearcats, but rallied for three straight points to win 27-25 and take a 1-0 lead in the match. Haverford ended the set on an 8-3 run.

After a 25-16 victory in set two by the Fords, the two teams went back and forth with no team holding a lead by more than four points until the score was tied at 21. Haverford scored the final four points to win 25-21 and pick up its second straight sweep of the day.

O'Day led the Fords with 13 kills and now has had at least ten kills in her last 30 matches. She also reached the 1,000 kill plateau in the match. Sophomore Abby Keller set a season-high with 20 assists. Godbe added 12 kills while Mutty had a team-high 15 digs in the win. Michelle Stommes led the Bearcats with 11 kills in the loss.

Gettysburg is now 14-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play while Baruch fell to 8-11 on the year.  The Fords will host conference rival Ursinus on Wednesday and non-conference foe Moravian on Thursday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
