Strong effort by women's cross country at  Main Line Invite

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's cross country team continued its season by hosting the Main Line Invitational at Alumni Course Thursday evening.

Freshman Nora Weathers, pacing the Fords, finished in 17 minutes, 43.20 seconds to place 14th in the three-mile race. Weathers was the second Division III runner across the line as Bryn Mawr College's Kristina Kronauer narrowly preceded her in 13th place. LaSalle University's Meghan McGlinchey registered the winning time of 16:16.30 while Villanova runners claimed the next seven spots.

Also running well was sophomore Katie Balmer who finished in 19th place with a time of 17:52.30. Senior Sara Hess placed 23rd (18:09.70) and Emily Scott (18:20.90), Fiona Hendry (18:21.20) and Andrea Tocci (18:21.90) soon followed in spots 26-28. Chelsea Thorsheim (32nd, 18:36.60), Charlotte Lellman (34th, 18:42.40) and Flora Berklein (35th, 18:43.30) also finished in the top-35.

Other teams participating at the annual invite included Bryn Mawr College, Gwynedd-Mercy College, Swarthmore College and Widener University.

Haverford, currently ranked 22nd in the nation, heads to Dickinson College on Sept. 29 for the Dickinson Invitational. The race begins at 10 a.m.
