Women's cross country opens 2013 season

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's cross country team opened the 2013 season in impressive fashion on Friday evening as the host Fords earned three of the top five spots at the Haverford Opener.

Junior Charlotte Lellman led the effort with a second-place finish in 17 minutes, 55 seconds. Running well in her first collegiate meet, Clarice Bourland finished right behind Lellman in third (18:04). Senior Bridget Freeley started off her final season in a Haverford uniform with a sound effort as she placed fifth in 18:42.

Freshman Rebecca Fisher and senior Molly Quay-de la Vallee also competed for the Fords in Friday's race. Claudia Keep of Bryn Mawr College was the top overall finisher in 17:35.

Haverford returns to action on Sept. 7 as it hosts the Alumnae Open beginning at 5 p.m.
