Heffernan Places 10th at Haverford Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – In its final preparations for the Centennial Conference Championship next weekend, the Haverford College women's cross country team entered seven runners to compete in the Haverford Invitational on Friday. The Fords came out of the meet with two new personal bests and a top 10 finish from Maggie Heffernan. No team scores were kept in the meet which saw 94 entrants in the field on the women's side.

The Fords' top 10 from Heffernan came in a time of 18:34.90. That mark just missed her previous personal best but still was good enough for a 10th place finish. Molly Allen and Katherine Greifeld each broke the 20-minute mark for the Fords in the meet to finish among the top 25. Allen set a new personal best with a time of 19:14.50 as she placed 22nd, while Greifeld finish in a time of 19:21.90 to place 25th.

Margaret Duffy was Haverford's fourth finisher as she placed 48th overall in the field with a time of 20:30.90. Just seconds behind her was Allison Hacker. Hacker turned in the Fords' second personal best of the day as she placed 53rd overall with a time of 20:45.40. Amanda Glavin (21:24.40) and Rebecca Fisher (24:04.10) rounded out the Fords' team on the evening. Glavin was 62nd in the individual standings. Fisher placed 85th in the field.

Up next for the Fords will be the Centennial Conference Championship next Saturday, November 1 at noon on the Alumni Cross Country Course. The men will be up first on that day with their race scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
