Three Earn All-Region for No. 29 Women's Cross Country

NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team, ranked No. 29 in the nation according to the latest USTFCCCA Rankings, finished sixth overall at the Mideast Regional. The Fords scored 207 points as team.

Johns Hopkins (28 points) and Dickinson (99 points) claimed the automatic qualifier slots for the top two teams, while the top seven finishers on the non-qualifying teams also earned automatic berths to the NCAA Championship.

Kelley Riffenburgh just missed an automatic qualifier slot as she placed 15th overall in the field of 370 runners. Riffenburgh's top time for Haverford came in 22:29.5. That mark earned her third-team All-Mideast Region honors for the second straight season after she placed 21st a season ago.

Charlotte Lellman also earned all-region honors for the second straight season with her 30th place finish in a time of 22:54.3. She was joined on the fifth-team All-Region squad by her teammate Maggie Heffernan. Heffernan finished 33rd overall with a time of 23:01.0 to earn her highest career place in the regional race.

Nora Weathers (23:35.1) and Nicole Giannetti (23:56.0) were Haverford's fourth and fifth finishers, respectively. Weathers finished 56th overall, while Giannetti was 73rd in her first regional appearance. Amelia Keyser-Gibson (24:17.3) and Katherine Greifeld (24:41.5) rounded out the Haverford contingent. Keyser Gibson and Greifeld placed 95th and 124th, respectively.

Women's cross country will now have to await the selection of the NCAA at-large bids to see if it will be represented at the 2014 NCAA Championship.
