Centennial Conference Preseason Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team was picked to finish third in the Centennial Conference in the annual voting amongst the conference's head coaches. The Fords received 64 voting points in the poll. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their respective teams.

Entering the 23rd season of the Centennial Conference, the Fords have placed outside of the top three just once in conference history. This string of success includes 16 finishes of first or second. Haverford's third place pick in the preseason voting matches the team's postseason finish of one year ago.

Defending Centennial Conference Champion Johns Hopkins was picked to repeat that feat during the 2015 season. Dickinson received the other first-place vote for a total of 70 points. Swarthmore (61 points) and Muhlenberg (46 points) rounded out the top five teams in the poll.

The Fords return four of their top seven runners from the Centennial Conference Championship last season. That list includes second-team All-Centennial Conference runner Nora Weathers. Weathers enters her final season at Haverford with momentum as she garnered All-America status for the first time in her career during this past spring's outdoor track & field season.

Women's cross country opens the 2015 season today at the Haverford Open on the Alumni Cross Country Course at 5:30 p.m. The team will also be at home for the Alumnae Open (Sept. 5), Main Line Invitational (Sept. 18), and Haverford Invitational (Oct. 23) this fall. The 2015 Centennial Conference Championship will be hosted by Johns Hopkins on October 31 in Owings Mill, Md.
