NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team placed each of its top five finishers inside the top 14 at Saturday's Dickinson Long/Short Invitational. Running only in the long race (6,000 meters), the Fords had a pair of top five finishers and each of their first five runners across the line before Centennial Conference rival Dickinson's third runner came in. The field for the long race totaled 163 finishers.

Nora Weathers led the Fords to the finish line with a fourth place finish overall. Her time of 22:56.63 was 25 seconds off the pace of individual champion Emma Doughman from Marywood. Weathers' mark was also 13 seconds faster than her time at this event a year ago. Right behind Weathers was her teammate, Katie Sullivan. Sullivan placed fifth overall with a time of 23:01.37, a 58 second improvement from her freshman season.

The Fords' spread across the first five runners was just 38 seconds as Haverford claimed the 10th, 12th, and 14th slots to round out the top five. Amelia Keyser-Gibson recorded the 10th place finish in a time of 23:15.58. Nicole Giannetti came in just behind her in 12th with a time of 23:18.79, while Maggie Heffernan was 14th overall on the day with a time of 23:34.11. Heffernan's time was a 12 second improvement from her run at this event last season.

Haverford's sixth through eighth finishers also featured a pair of marked improvements from this event last season. MaryKate Cavanaugh was the sixth Haverford runner across the line in a time of 24:47.56 to place 34th overall with an improvement of three seconds from last year's meet. Sarah Wade was on her heels to the finish with a time of 24:51.93 and 35th place showing. Molly Allen improved her mark by 29 seconds from last year's meet as she finished 37th overall with a time of 25:01.91.

Other finishers for the Fords included Sophia Drew, who was 52nd overall with a time of 25:28.00, while classmate Julia Smith was 72nd in her first time competing at the meet with a time of 26:02.54. Allison Hacker placed 79th in the field (26:22.00), while Liana Alves' time of 26:56.34 also placed her among the top 100 finishers. Alison Love, Marie Vastola, and Stephanie Lukez rounded out the Haverford finishers for the afternoon as that trio just missed the top 100 runners across the line.

Women's cross country will return to action for the third straight weekend as the Fords head to Lehigh University next Friday for the Paul Short Run. The women's race at the Paul Short run is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
