Three Earn All-Mideast Honors for Women's Cross Country

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team had three runners named to the All-Mideast Region team as the Fords placed fifth overall in the team standings. The Fords scored 161 points as a team.

Katie Sullivan led the Fords to the finish line as she tallied a 15th place finish with a time of 22:07. That mark was just five seconds off of the pace to earn an automatic qualifier position as an individual. Sullivan has now earned all-region honors twice in her career after a ninth place finish in 2015.

Nicole Giannetti earned All-Mideast Region honors for the first time in her career as she placed 29th overall with a time of 22:45. She improved her previous best finish at regionals by 18 positions. Classmate Amelia Keyser-Gibson repeated her All-Mideast Region honors from a season ago with her 35th place finish. Keyser-Gibson, who was 12th in the 2015 regional, crossed the line in a time of 22:56.

Sarah Wade was just four seconds off of her personal best time which she set just two weeks ago at the Centennial Conference Championships. Saturday's time of 23:10 placed her 39th in the field, a 66 spot improvement from last year. Abigail Doroshow was just four spots behind her as Haverford's final scorer. The freshman placed 43rd with a time of 23:12 in her first regional meet.

MaryKate Cavanaugh and Alison Love were the team's sixth and seventh finishers. Cavanaugh crossed the line in 62nd with a time of 23:35 to improve her position from last year by 90 spots. Love's time of 24:05 placed her 87th in the field as she was making her regional debut.

Johns Hopkins won the Mideast Regional with 38 team points. Dickinson College was second with 120 points. Nationally ranked sides Elizabethtown and DeSales also held to their regional rankings by placing third and fourth, while the No. 35 Fords also maintained their Mideast ranking coming into the weekend.
