HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's cross country team continues to sit just outside of the national rankings as the Fords are once again receiving votes in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings. Haverford garnered seven votes in the national poll and checked in a No. 5 in the Mideast Region rankings after the Main Line Invitational.

At the Main Line Invitational, senior captain Sophie Drew led the Fords to the finish as she placed 25th overall in a field that featured three other local Division I programs in Villanova, Penn, and St. Joseph's. Sophomore Griffin Kaulbach and first year Izzy Miller also broke the 19-minute mark in the three-mile race for the Fords last Friday. Senior captain Julia Smith and sophomore Hannah Yeakey rounded out the team's top five finishers.

Around the rest of the Mideast Region, Johns Hopkins continues to be a unanimous pick as the No. 1 team in the country. The Centennial Conference continues to dominate the regional stage as Dickinson rose one spot to No. 16 in the region, while Swarthmore is also receiving votes in the latest national poll. With four Centennial Conference teams receiving votes towards the national rankings, Carnegie Mellon is the only non-Centennial program in the Mideast Region represented as it jumped three spots to No. 19 in the latest national poll.

Women's cross country will have the upcoming weekend away from competition as it prepares for its first 6,000 meter race of the season at Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational. The race is set for Saturday, September 29. The women will start at 10 a.m. that day.
