HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College women's cross country runners Hannah Doll and Sophie Drew were both named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. The teams are voted on by the sports information offices of the 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better. With its two honorees, the Fords join Villanova as the only other school in the area with multiple selections.

Hannah Doll went back to the NCAA Championships for the Fords as a sophomore and ran to a 141st place finishing with an 81 spot improvement from her inaugural appearance. Doll earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships after placing 16th at the Mideast Regional, ranking her fifth overall among runners not on NCAA qualifying teams. In addition to the first all-region accolades of her career. Doll earned All-Conference recognition for the first time in her cross country career as she placed 14th in the conference meet to garner second-team accolades. Doll, who was the top finisher for Haverford in every race she entered this fall, was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in her first season eligible and will repeat her USTFCCCA All-Academic honors later this fall.

Co-captain Sophie Drew also captured All-Mideast Region honors as she helped the Fords placed fourth at the regional championships and just miss a trip back to the NCAA Championships. She was a scoring runner in each meet for the Fords and was the team's top finisher during the Main Line Invitational. The senior placed 18th at the Centennial Conference Championships and 21st at the Mideast Regional. She was a top-10 finisher at both the Alumnae Open and Jack Saint Clair Invitational. Drew has now been named to the Centennial Conference academic honor roll during each of her three eligible cross country seasons, in addition to those same honors in both indoor and outdoor track & field. Like her teammate Doll, Drew will repeat her USTFCCCA All-Academic honors from the 2017 season later this fall.

With a young team that continued to grow throughout the season, women's cross country placed third at the Centennial Conference Championships and fourth at the Mideast Regional. Although the cross country season drew to a close with Doll's standout performance at the NCAA Championships, the Fords will jump right into the indoor track & field season this Saturday with the Haverford Holiday Meet set for a 10:30 a.m. start inside the Alumni Field House.
