Season Highlights: With a young team that took leaps and bounds forward at every meet throughout the 2018 season, the Haverford College women's cross country team kept its place among the best in the Centennial Conference and Mideast Region this fall. The Fords won the white race at the Paul Short Open and were second at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial Invitational before really turning up the intensity during the postseason. Haverford beat Swarthmore for the first time all season and earned a crucial Hood Trophy point with a third-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships and followed that up two weeks later with a fourth-place showing at the Mideast Regional. Although the Fords were left on the outside of the bubble as a team to head back to the NCAA Division III Championships, Hannah Doll earned individual qualifier status as her 16th place finish at the regional meet ranked her fifth among runners not on NCAA qualifying teams.

Season Notes: Hannah Doll's 141st place finish at the NCAA Championships was an 81 spot improvement from her finish as a first-year … As a two-time NCAA qualifier at the end of her sophomore campaign, Doll is on pace to become just the program's fifth four-time NCAA qualifier … That accomplishment is even more impressive considering Haverford has been a regular at the NCAA Championships with 27 appearances during the program's 32-year history (17 times as a team and 10 more with individual qualifiers) … Haverford has placed among the top four teams in the Mideast Region during 21 of the last 26 seasons … Hannah Doll and Sophie Drew both earned All-Mideast Region honors as the Fords have now had multiple all-region performers during each season this century … Haverford has placed in the top three at the conference championships during 25 of the 26 years as a member of the Centennial Conference … That string of conference success includes three championships and 17 runner-up finishes … Haverford has had at least one All-Centennial Conference runner in each season as Hannah Doll placed 14th to garner second-team accolades … Haverford joined Villanova as the only team in the Philadelphia metro region with two runners named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team, with Hannah Doll and Sophie Drew both earning that recognition … Haverford's 13 student-athletes named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll marked the second-highest total of all teams in the conference.
Looking ahead: With a young team that featured just two seniors in co-captains Sophie Drew and Julia Smith, the Fords will have to replace two of their scoring runners but appear well-positioned to do so. Hannah Doll highlights the returners with her laundry list of accolades but her classmate Griffin Kaulbach was also a scoring runner at the conference and regional championships. Entering their seniors seasons next fall, Jolie Jaycobs and Mckenna Krall will look to carry on their spot as regulars among Haverford's scorer runners, while Izzy Miller had a standout rookie campaign and only looks to improve as she continues her collegiate running career. Before looking ahead to next year's team, however, the Fords will begin the indoor track & field season shortly and transition to the outdoor season during the spring semester.
