Women's Cross Country Wins Paul Short Run White Race

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Running in a tight pack once again, the Haverford College women's cross country team won the White Race at Lehigh's Paul Short Run. The race was the first 6,000 meter meet of the season for the Fords as Haverford had a number of individuals come across the line with huge PRs.

The Fords scored 152 points as a team in the White Race and put each of their top seven runners among the first 60 finishers in the race which consisted of 44 teams. Haverford's first through seventh finishers in the race were separated by just 1:04.

Griffin Kaulbach once again led Haverford to the finish line as she was one of five individuals who broke her individual personal best at the 6,000 meter distance by over a minute. Kaulbach finished ninth overall in the field of 372 runners with a time of 22:36.9.

Each of Haverford's other seven finishers in the White Race broke the 24-minute mark as the Fords collected five personal best times and had two other runners who completed the first 6K race of their careers. Hannah Doll just missed the 23-minute barrier as she placed 28th overall with a time of 23:02.0 while first-year Sheena Dwyer-McNulty was right behind her in 31st place with a time of 23:05.1.

Izzy Miller set a new personal best as she placed 37th in the race with a mark of 23:11.0. Angie Petrichenko (23:28.9) and Amalia Axinn (23:33.8) each had one minute-plus personal best times, finishing 52nd and 55th, respectively. Cate Tomson crossed the line with a time of 23:40.5 in her first 6K, while Jolie Jaycobs set a PR with a mark of 23:55.6.

Haverford also had a number of strong showings in the open race. Mckenna Krall led the Fords to the finish line in that race as she placed 158th overall, also breaking the 24-minute mark with a time of 23:59.2. Ellie Keating (25:05.4), Lauren Tanel (25:18.6), Zoe Arditi (25:32.0), Michelle Luu (25:51.6), and Marly Banatte (25:58.2) all broke the 26-minute mark. Maggie Doubman ran over two minutes better than her previous best at this distance while Annie Connolly-Sporing cut over a minute off of her previous best.

With the first 6,000 meter race under its belt, women's cross country will return to action on Saturday, October 19 for the Gettysburg Invitational. The women's race that day is set to go off at 11 a.m. Gettysburg will also be the site of the 2019 Centennial Conference Championship which will be held during the first weekend in November.
