GLASSBORO, N.J. – On a windy Tuesday afternoon at No. 7 Rowan, the Haverford College baseball team (7-7) was defeated by the host Profs (8-4), by a final score of 11-2.

Rowan struck first against senior Luke Duris (1-2) in the bottom of the first. An error and a passed ball put a runner in scoring position for the Profs before Anthony Harrold delivered an RBI single for the first run of the contest.

The Fords evened the score at 1-1 with a two-out rally in the second inning against Jeremy Dyzenhaus (1-0). Senior Sam Partee walked with two down and senior Nick Perez then singled up the middle. Junior Will Karp followed with a double placed down the left field line, plating Partee to knot the game up at 1-1.

In the bottom of the second, the first nine batters for Rowan reached based as the Profs mounted a seven-run, four-hit rally to take command of the contest with an 8-1 advantage. A two-RBI double by Mitch Walker was the only extra-base hit of the sequence.

Haverford chipped away at the Profs lead in the fourth. Partee was hit by a pitch ahead of a Perez single as the visitors had two runners on and no one out. Senior Ethan Lee-Tyson walked to load the bases with one down before first-year Ryan Schwartz delivered an RBI single through the left side to score Partee, trimming the deficit to just six at 8-2.

First year Cole Bramhall tossed two innings of scoreless relief for Haverford, surrendering just one hit to quiet a potent Rowan lineup.  Senior Austin Castellanos recorded a pair of strikeouts in his inning of work while junior Nathan Vucovich also hurled a scoreless frame.

Junior Luke Wallis and Perez each had two hit days for Haverford. Wallis recorded his team-leading seventh multi-hit contest and stretched his hitting streak to nine games. Wallis also lengthened his on-base streak to 14 straight contests to begin the season.

Haverford will be right back in action on the diamond tomorrow, taking on Arcadia at Skip Wilson Field in Ambler, Pa. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.  Haverford then hosts TCNJ at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday to wrap up a slate of three non-conference games in as many days.

The first Centennial Conference contest of the year is scheduled for Saturday, as the Fords welcome in Gettysburg for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
