Virtual Senior Days: Haverford Cricket Class of 2020

With the 2020 spring sports unable to hold Senior Days on campus, the Haverford College Athletic Department is recognizing these seniors in a virtual ceremony, with some special help from their teammates. Today, we celebrate the 2020 Haverford College cricket seniors.

2020 Haverford College Cricket Senior Class

  • Captured the 2018 Philadelphia Area Intercollegiate Cricket Championship 
  • Registered 25 total wins 
  • Went 9-6 in 2018-19, the most wins for the squad in a single season since the 89-90 campaign
  • Represented Haverford in foreign tour to England in May of 2019, where the team played at Windsor Castle and visited famed venues such as Lord's Cricket Ground

Zach Cho • #39  • All-Rounder • History • Seongnam, South Korea

  • Ambler Scholar Athlete
  • Member of the Haverford Strength and Conditioning Committee 
  • Spent entire junior year abroad at the London School of Economics
  • Will head to Yale University to pursue Master's degree in European History

Emile Givental • #42 • Batsman • Computer Science • Berkeley, Calif. 

  • Graduating in just three years 
  • Scored 31 runs during his first-year campaign in 2017-18
  • Proved to be a vital two-way threat for the Fords this season, appearing as a bowler as well as a batsman in the intercollegiate tournament

Matthew Leibold • #38 • Batsman • Wicketkeeper • History • Houston, Texas 

  • Made big catches in the field as Haverford defeated Germantown CC and British Officers CC this season 
  • As a wicketkeeper, was a stabilizing presence for the Fords, working with both bowlers and batters in early season preparation 

Daniel Van Beveren • #41 • Bowler/Batsman • Physics • Chesapeake, Va. 

  • Senior captain helped anchor the Fords bowling to four wins in the fall of 2019 
  • Named to the 2019-20 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area at-large team 
  • Goldwater Scholarship recipient for research in the natural sciences, one of 496 scholarship winners selected from a field of over 1,200 nationwide nominees in 2019
