GLASSBORO, N.J. - Facing off with a ranked opponent for the second straight Saturday, the Haverford College field hockey team (2-4) fell to No. 2 Rowan (6-0) by a 7-1 final at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.

After Rowan got on the scoreboard with a goal from Bridget Guinan in the 8th minute, it was a big second quarter that saw the Profs take command of the contest. The hosts added tallies in the 17th, 21st, 23rd, and 28th minutes to take the 5-0 lead into the halftime intermission. After the break, Rowan added two more tallies from Guinan, who completed the hattrick with back-to-back strikes in the 38th and 39th minute as the hosts suddenly had a 7-0 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Haverford got on the scoreboard in the 54th minute, ending any thought of a Rowan shutout. After earning a penalty corner, Olivia Ahart's entry pass from the top of the circle found the stick of Anna Bradley down low in front of the cage. Bradley was able to deflect the pass into the back of the goal for Haverford's first tally of the contest.

In total, Rowan held an 18-4 advantage in penalty corners and a 20-2 lead in shots. Liz Fox had assists on four of Rowan's goals in the contest. Again tested by a top team, Mary Smith made seven saves in her 60 minutes between the pipes.

In the last meeting between the two sides prior to Saturday, Haverford upset then No. 8 Rowan by a 2-0 final on September 18, 2021.

The Fords will now turn the page and open up Centennial Conference play against McDaniel on Saturday, September 24. The contest is slated to begin at 4 p.m. in Westminster, Maryland.
