LANCASTER, Pa. - The Haverford College field hockey team (3-7, 1-3 CC) dropped a midweek contest to Franklin & Marshall (7-3, 3-0 CC), a team receiving votes in the latest NFHCA Poll, falling by a 5-0 final to the Diplomats at Tylus Field on the F&M campus Wednesday.

The Diplomats held a 19-8 advantage in shots, and tallied the first goal of the contest in the fourth minute, a strike that would hold as the game-winning goal as three Franklin & Marshall goalkeepers combined for a shutout.

After Keira Boensch grabbed the opening goal in the first quarter, Haverford went looking for an equalizer, earning a pair of penalty corners while Anna Bradley had her shot blocked in the 12th minute and Olivia Ahart was denied by Sydney Lippe just 10 seconds later on the subsequent corner try. Sophie Carroll added the second goal of the season in the 18th minute, and the Diplomats added a third tally just before the half in the 30th minute as the hosts came into the intermission in command.

Mary Smith was called into action to make two quick saves in the third, but F&M tallied two more goals in the stretch, with Carroll adding her second of the contest in the 32nd and Jessica Miller making the score 5-0 Diplomats with a 35th minute goal.

Delaney Snowden and Olivia Ahart had solid looks on cage to end the third period, while Amy Kim and Naomi York put shots on frame in the fourth. Smith finished with eight total saves in her 60 minutes between the pipes. The Haverford offense earned six total corners while F&M notched eight on the afternoon.

The Fords now return home for a Saturday afternoon home contest with Dickinson. The game will start at 1 p.m. on Swan Field.
