Patrick Doherty Finalizes Men's Basketball Coaching Staff

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College men's basketball coach Patrick Doherty has finalized his coaching staff for the 2019-20 season. Doherty, who is in his third season as head coach of the Fords, will be joined by assistants Ken Doyle, Danny Frazier, and Doug Young on the bench. The Fords have increased their win total during each of Doherty's first two seasons. Haverford's 10 wins last season marked the program's first double-digit victory total since the 2010-11 campaign.

The Fords began practice this week and will open the regular season at home on Friday, November 8 at 7 p.m. against Lebanon Valley.

Ken Doyle

Ken Doyle brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience to the bench, most recently serving as the varsity basketball coach at Bishop Shanahan High School for the past 10 years. Doyle's teams experienced tremendous growth during his time on the sidelines, highlighted by the program's first-ever ChesMont League Championship in 2018 and back-to-back PIAA 5A State Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018.

Doyle is very familiar with the Centennial Conference as he graduated from McDaniel College in 2000 with a degree in sociology. While at McDaniel, he also captained the nationally-ranked golf team and was an all-conference and all-district honoree. Prior to coaching at Bishop Shanahan, Doyle spent seven years as an assistant at the Westtown School and was the junior varsity coach at West Catholic in the Philadelphia Catholic League. He has also served as a camp counselor at the Phil Martelli and Eastern Invitational Basketball camps.

Danny Frazier

Danny Frazier joins the Fords' coaching ranks after spending two seasons at Drexel. During his time at Drexel, Frazier served as the team's video coordinator. In that role, Frazier was instrumental in developing scouting reports on upcoming opponents as well as assisting in player development.

Previously a site director at MADE Hoops, Frazier graduated from the University of Missouri in the spring of 2017 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. During his time at Missouri, Frazier was a manager for four seasons and served as the head student manager in both his junior and senior years. His team of 11 student managers won the 2017 Manager Games National Championship at the Final Four in Phoenix, Ariz.

Doug Young

A leader with over ten years of head coaching experience at the high school and AAU levels, Doug Young began supporting the Haverford College men's basketball program as an assistant coach during the 2016-17 season and returns to the sideline for the 2019-20 campaign.

Young has previously served as the assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Lower Merion High School for 15 seasons. During that time, the team has achieved four state finals appearances, two state titles, an average of more than 22 victories per season and a .730 winning percentage and was named the "Best Boys Basketball Program in PA" by USA Today. Young has also served as commissioner of the Kobe Bryant Basketball Academy and the founder and head coach of Narberth Knights AAU. He has helped with the development of more than 50 players who have gone on to compete at all levels of the NCAA and professional ranks.
