Philadelphia Inquirer article on Hoops 4 Hope program

HAVERFORD, Pa. – This past Sunday, the Haverford College men's basketball team hosted Hoops 4 Hope (H4H), a grassroots community-based project that utilizes basketball to engage and empower men experiencing homelessness. The members of the two programs were able to get to know one another while bonding over a sport they all love.

Philadelphia native and Haverford college men's basketball junior Jesse Turkson said of the event, "We had a tremendous time helping run and organize the event. All members of our team felt the need to give back, and we couldn't think of a better way of doing so than in our surrounding community."

The opportunity was great for the members of the Hoops 4 Hope team as well, as many of them had never left the city until they were invited to Haverford.

"We were thrilled when [head coach] Patrick [Doherty] reached out wanting to host us at Haverford for the afternoon! We felt this was a great way to end our second season and another chance to get the guys out of the shelters for an afternoon," stated league founder Tori Urban.

She continued by stating, "To give them an opportunity to both play the game they love on a beautiful college campus and show that the community is taking notice of what we're trying to accomplish and that they're trying to help as well, was a powerful note to end the season on. We are so grateful for this partnership and are looking forward to more events with Haverford in the future!"
