A leader with over ten years of head coaching experience at the high school and AAU levels, Doug Young began supporting the Haverford College men’s basketball program as an assistant coach during the 2016-17 season and returns to the sideline for the 2019-20 campaign.

Young has previously served as the assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Lower Merion High School for 15 seasons. During that time, the team has achieved four state finals appearances, two state titles, an average of more than 22 victories per season and a .730 winning percentage and was named the “Best Boys Basketball Program in PA” by USA Today. Young has also served as commissioner of the Kobe Bryant Basketball Academy and the founder and head coach of Narberth Knights AAU. He has helped with the development of more than 50 players who have gone on to compete at all levels of the NCAA and professional ranks.
