RADNOR, Pa. - Competing against one of the nation's top teams in No. 8 Cabrini (1-0), the Haverford College men's lacrosse team (0-1) posted an impressive performance before the Cavaliers pulled away with three late goals in the final seven minutes of action to take a 10-6 victory at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

Andrew Arth was the only Haverford player to tally multiple goals, as he lit the lamp twice while Sean Mowatt-Larssen, Matt Richards, Blake Brinster, and Teddy Carlin each tallied goals of their own. Tommy Dandino had a solid performance with five ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Eric Dahlberg added three caused turnovers to four ground balls. Colby Freeman looked solid in his debut between the pipes, stopping 13 shots, including six in the fourth quarter.

Haverford took an early lead behind back-to-back goals from Richards and Brinster, and Arth later tied the score at 3-3 with an unassisted strike that came just moments into the second quarter. Mowatt-Larsen took a feed from Arth and gave Haverford a 4-3 lead with 5:49 remaining in the first half.

Cabrini rallied with four consecutive goals, as Dan Bennett and Tommy Vaughn scored to give Cabrini the lead into halftime and Vaughn and Mickey Vanaman both added scores in a methodical third quarter surge. Entering the fourth, Haverford looked to climb right back into the contest with Carlin and Arth both connecting to put the Fords within one with 12:05 to play and firing up the visiting bench with designs on an upset.

Vaughn restored a two-goal cushion for the Cavaliers with his goal that came with 7:07 to play, and later added an unassisted tally with 4:38 remaining. An insurance goal from Vanaman represented the last score for either side with just over three minutes remaining in regulation.

Cabrini found an advantage at the faceoff X, earning 12 of the 20 overall faceoffs. Most of the major stat categories were a dead heat, with Cabrini holding a slight 39-34 edge in ground balls while both squads forced 10 turnovers. Seven different Haverford players collected at least two ground balls, with Dandino and Freeman leading that effort on the afternoon.

Another tough test now awaits the Fords as Haverford hosts No. 11 Stevens in a midweek contest to open the home slate on Wednesday. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. on Swan Field. The all-time series between the Fords and Ducks was restarted in 2016 after a 38 year dormancy.
