BALTIMORE, Md. - The Haverford College men's soccer team (2-5-2, 0-2 CC) was upended by homestanding No. 6 Johns Hopkins (6-0-2, 2-0 CC) on Saturday night at Homewood Field, falling by a 1-0 final to the Blue Jays.

The Fords came out firing on all cylinders in the early goings, looking to make their mark early at Homewood. Paul-Andre Coulibaly put a shot attempt off the woodwork in the 10th minute, hitting the post as the Fords looked to be building towards a goal with much of the momentum out of the opening gates. Meinhardt Rentrup collected the redirection from Coulibaly's attempt off the post and fired high. The first half action on the other end was dealt with by Dylan Ioffreda, as he stopped a shot from Guilian Laudisa on the counter attack from the hosts, and later denied Axel Whamond in the 35th minute as the two teams entered the intermission scoreless.

The Blue Jays eventually opened the scoring in the 56th minute, as a turnover led to a swift attack from the hosts, with Aidan Dunphy slotting a ball to Whamond who beat Ioffreda for the 1-0 lead. Forced to chase the game from that point, Haverford remained composed with Liam O'Malley getting a pair of great looks on frame. In the 79th minute, O'Malley flicked a strong attempt on frame, but the Hopkins goalkeeper made a fantastic save to deny the equalizer.

O'Malley later had his shot team saved and cleared off the back line in the 85th minute, before Coulibaly saw his attempt saved just moments later in a flurry of offensive action in the Haverford attacking third.

Johns Hopkins eventually escaped that situation, with Alex Morgret picking up the shutout with three saves as the clock ticked zero.  Johns Hopkins held a 16-7 advantage in shots and a 10-1 lead in corner kicks on the evening. Ioffreda made six saves in his 90 minutes between the pipes for Haverford.

Men's Soccer will return to action on Wednesday against Washington College as Centennial Conference action rolls on from Walton Field. The contest is slated to begin at 4 p.m. and will be part of Haverford Athletics' Pride Week festivities
