Men's Tennis Locks Up Third Seed in Centennial Conference Tournament

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with victories against Gettysburg (8-1 final) and Scranton (7-2 final). Prior to the match, the Fords also celebrated their Class of 2019 as Andrew Linden, Josh Moskovitz, Nick Sweeney, and Kevin Xu were honored in a pre-match ceremony.

That four seniors went a combined 7-0 on the day to help pace the Fords' team victories. Josh Moskovitz won both his singles matches while also playing No. 1 doubles alongside Kevin Yan in the opener against Gettysburg. Moskovitz, the No. 9 player in the Atlantic South Region, now has 49 career singles victories as he allowed just one game on Saturday. He finished the regular season with a 6-2 conference record and an overall mark of 18-7.

Moskovitz and Yan, ranked No. 14 in regional doubles, finished the conference slate at 7-1 (13-9) overall as that duo was an 8-5 winner against the Bullets. Yan was additionally a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 2 singles against Gettysburg.

Nick Sweeney won No. 4 singles against Gettysburg and returned to his usual No. 5 spot in the lineup against Scranton. Sweeney now has 12 wins this spring in singles after going 5-3 in Centennial action. Sweeney also teamed up with Arnav Patodia at No. 2. With the win against the Royals, that pairing has 10 victories together. Andrew Linden also got into the winning act as he teamed up with Patrick Kley for an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles against Scranton. Linden remains a perfect 3-0 in doubles throughout his career after today's win.

Overall, Haverford won all six of the doubles matches that were contested to get off to a great start in both matches. George Jiang and Pranav Krishnan teamed up for wins in both matches as that pairing has won a team-best 15 doubles matches together this year. Jian won his match at No. 3 singles against Scranton, while Krishan filled that slot in winning fashion against Gettysburg. Other victories from Haverford in the varsity lineup on Saturday came from Jun Mo as he was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at No. 5 in the CC battle. Jackson Trevor stepped into No. 6 singles against Scranton and did not allow his opponent a game.

With the victory against Gettysburg, men's tennis has officially clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament. The Fords will travel to second-seeded Swarthmore next Saturday for that semifinal showdown. The start time of that playoff match will be decided on Monday.
