SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The third-seeded Haverford College men's tennis team fell to second-seeded Swarthmore by a 5-0 score Saturday during the Centennial Conference semifinals. In a match that was much closer than the final score would indicate, the Fords were leading or tied in three of the four matches that went unfinished when the match reached decision.

The Garnet got the early jump by winning all three doubles matches. In a battle of regionally-ranked doubles teams, Swarthmore's No. 1 pairing got the better of Josh Moskovitz and Kevin Yan on Saturday, avenging a regular season defeat to the Fords' top duo by an 8-5 score. Swarthmore added 8-3 wins in the second and third doubles position to take a commanding 3-0 lead into singles play.

Swarthmore sealed its spot in the Centennial Conference Championship match against top-seeded Johns Hopkins with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Nick Sweeney won a game during his second set to finish a strong senior campaign while Arnav Patodia collected six games at No. 6 singles.

Looking at the matches that went unfinished, Kevin Yan was up 1-0 in the third set of No. 2 singles after forcing his match into a decisive set with a 6-2 win in the second. George Jiang was just about ready to start his third set at No. 3 singles after winning a 6-4 second set. Pranav Krishnan was on serve during his second set at No. 4 singles after winning his opener by a 6-4 score. In another matchup of regionally-ranked opponents at the top of the lineup, Josh Moskovitz was down a set and trailing 4-1 in the second.

Men's tennis was making its 13th appearance in the Centennial Conference Tournament during the past 14 seasons. The Fords have made it to at least the semifinal round during each of those postseason appearances. Haverford caps its season with a 13-8 overall record after going 7-2 in Centennial Conference play during the regular season.
