HAVERFORD, Pa. – Hosting the Keogh Invitational, the Haverford College men's indoor track & field team posted an outstanding performance in its final event before the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Fords finished first in four out of 14 events held throughout the morning and early afternoon inside the Alumni Field House on Saturday.

Highlighting Haverford's success was the Eddie Papalia '05 Memorial 800 meter distance, won by Haverford alumni Andrew Golato '12 in a time of 1:56.85. The event was named in memory of Papalia, a three-time track & field All-American who graduated from Haverford. Papalia passed away in June '12. Haverford also took second and third place in the event. Just behind Golato, senior Ryan Gooding placed second with a time of 1:57.62. In third place, freshman Chris Goings finished in 1:58.47. Julian Schneider and Ian Woodhouse also finished in the top 10.

In the mile run, Haverford claimed five of the top eight spots and three of the top four. Michael Brier finished in second place, less than a second away from first, with a time of 4:23.45. A pair of freshmen finished seconds later as Peter Kurtz (4:24.82) and Greg Morgan (4:26.81) took third and fourth place. Schneider and Tyler Fong also placed among the top 10.

Haverford placed 14 runners in the top 20 in the 3,000 meters. Sophomore Henry Woods headlined the list with a second place finish in 8:28.43, about three tenths of a second behind first place. Nicholas Gandolfo-Lucia took fourth place with a final time of 8:43.74.

In the 200 meters, freshman Liam Lynch finished with the top time of 22.90, edging second place by nine-hundredths of a second.

In the 4x400 relay, Haverford's team (Liam Lynch, Dorvil Gabriel, Zach Oji, Alex Frost) finished on top with a time of 8:29.75, five seconds faster than second place.

Senior Jeffrey Ainsley took first place in the 60 hurdles in 8.38 seconds. Dorvil Gabriel finished fourth in 8.95 seconds. Gabriel also headlined the field events, finishing first in the triple jump at 13.33 meters.

The Haverford men's track & field team will next be seen in the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Ursinus from Saturday, February 27 through Sunday, February 28.
