COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - On the second and final day of the Centennial Conference Championships at Ursinus, the Haverford College men's indoor track & field team captured five event titles en route to a second place finish with 177 points, well clear of third place Swarthmore who finished third with 85 total points.  Johns Hopkins took the Centennial Championship with 215 total points. Haverford has now finished first or second in the Centennial Championships in each season dating back to 1999.

The men's 3,000 meters went to Dylan Gearinger for the second consecutive year as the Haverford junior continued his standout season with the Centennial crown in 8:39.76. Graham Peet was second in 8:41.72 as the pair reprised their 1-2 finish in the 5,000 meters a day ago with a similar showing in the 3,000. Gearinger put himself in position to be named the Track Performer of the Meet by capturing both distance titles over the weekend.

Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe scored for Haverford with a time of 8:43.04, exceeding his seed time by more than five seconds for a fifth place finish. James Stadler was also a scorer for the Fords, with an eighth place finish in 8:52.30.

In the men's mile run, Greg Morgan finished in 4:15.03 to take the event title in a time that was more than a second faster than the second place finisher Henry Woods, who crossed in 4:16.60. The Fords scored a total of 18 points in the event, as Lincoln Satterthwaite narrowly missed scoring with a time of 4:23.21 and a ninth place finish.  Jack Hunter finished 15th in 4:32.15.

Chris Goings edged Anthony Calantoni of Muhlenberg in the 800 meter run, exceeding his top-seeded time with a 1:56.07 performance, a career-best finish. Goings finished second in the distance a season ago. Morgan also competed in the 800 meter, finishing 10th in 2:00.15.

Liam Lynch completed a three-peat in the 400 meter dash with a 50.73 finish for the event title. Gene Perry was also a scorer in third with a time of 51.69. Lynch has now won the indoor 400 meter event in every year he has competed for the Fords.  Lynch is the first Haverford sprinter to win the event three times and is the first three-time winner in any track discipline since Charlie Marquardt won three straight mile crowns from 2014-16.

The men's 4x400 meter relay featuring Perry, Goings, Scott Pollara and Lynch took home the event title with a time of 3:27.77 while the 4x800 meter relay squad featuring Satterthwaite, Barker, Matt Katz and Woods scored for the Fords with a fifth place finish in 8:06.38. Lynch was also a scorer in the 200 meter dash, finishing in third with a time of 23.21.

Zach Oji finished sixth in the 60 meter hurdles, picking up points for Haverford while matching a career best with a time of 9.65.

In Sunday's field events, Jack Brower, Silvan Sooksatan and Keiran Marrett-Hitch each recorded scoring finishes as Brower finished third with a height of 1.80 meters. Sooksatan was fifth with a mark of 1.75 meters. Marrett-Hitch was seventh in the event. Sooksatan finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.92 meters, a career best for the first year jumper.

Cameron Albrecht finished in fifth in the Heptathlon, picking up four crucial points for the Fords in the multi-event competition over both days of action.

With the potential for the Fords to enter last chance meets next weekend, the focus will now shift towards the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held on March 9 and 10 in Birmingham, Ala. at the CrossPlex. Birmingham Southern College will serve as the host of the two-day event.

With the top 15 declared entrants selected for the championships, Morgan (mile run, 3,000 meters), Gearinger (3,000 meters and 5,000 meters) and Peet (5,000 meters) all have put themselves in position for qualification with times within the top 15 nationally this season. Additionally, the Haverford distance medley relay posted the seventh fastest performance this season on Saturday.
