Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford men's indoor track & field team has been slated to finish second in the 2018-19 Centennial Conference standings in a vote of the conference's head coaches, the conference office announced in a release on Wednesday afternoon. The Fords received a total of 56 voting points and one first place vote. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

Defending conference champion Johns Hopkins was picked to repeat the feat in 2018-19, with 64 total voting points and the remaining eight first place tallies. The Fords bested rival Swarthmore (46 points) for third. Dickinson (45 points), and Ursinus (30 points) rounded out the top five in the annual preseason prognostication.

Haverford finished second at last year's indoor championships as part of a decorated season that saw Dylan Gearinger capture the indoor national championship in the 3,000 meters while also being named USTFCCCA Mideast Region Track Athlete of the Year and the outstanding performer at the Centennial meet. Greg Morgan was also named All-America in the mile while Graham Peet qualified for the national meet in the 5,000 meters.

In total, Haverford captured five individual event titles and two relay titles at the Centennial Conference meet with Gearinger completing the distance double with two trips to the top of the podium (3,000 and 5,000). Conference champions Liam Lynch (400, 4x400, DMR), Morgan (Mile, DMR), Chris Goings (800, 4x400, DMR) Gene Perry (4x400), and Scott Pollara (4x400) also all return with gold medals from standout campaigns a season ago.

Tom Donnelly was named the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year in the indoor season for the seventh time in his illustrious career at the helm of the program. The men's indoor squad peaked at No. 11 in the USTFCCCA National Indoor Rankings.

Haverford will begin the 2018-19 campaign in earnest on December 8 at the Haverford Holiday Meet inside the Alumni Field House. Ursinus is slated to host the 2019 Centennial Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 23-24 in Collegeville, Pa.
