Men's Track & Field Competes at Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's indoor track & field team competed at the Collegeville Classic on Saturday inside the Floyd Lewis Bakes Center on the campus of Ursinus on Saturday afternoon. The Fords finished eighth overall out of 24 teams with 28 total points.

The mile was an early highlight for Haverford, as James Barker finished third in 4:33.36. First year Peter Buckley made his indoor track debut, logging a time of 4:39.21 for a sixth place showing. Fellow first year Max Brelig finished 10th, crossing the finish in a personal-best 4:43.21. William Hillegas finished 20th (personal-best 4:49.75), while Steve Gan was 27th (personal-best 5:03.07) to round out the Haverford entrants. 

The Fords had a bevy of scorers in the 800 meters as the defending Centennial Conference champion in the event, Chris Goings, finished third in 1:59.13. Hiroshi Kawakatsu finished sixth overall in 2:02.15, while Ian Woodhouse also scored for the Fords with a seventh-place finish in a career-best 2:02.54.

Oscar Huang ran a career-best 55:16 in the 400 meters, good for 17th place, while Scott Pollara finished 35th in 1:01.15. Huang also competed in the 200 meters, posting a 21st place finish in 24.93.

In field events, Jack Brower finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.75 meters (5'-8.75") while Cameron Albrecht made his 2018-19 debut with a jump of 1.65 meters (5'-5"), good for an eighth place finish.

Chris Glazer finished 21st in the long jump, with a personal-best mark of 5.75 meters (18'-10.5"). Silvan Sooksatan finished 24th with a jump of 5.65 meters (18'-6.5"), Rohan Shukla was 27th with a jump of 5.55 meters (18'-2.5"), and Albrecht was 30th, clearing 5.33 meters (17'-6"). Shukla was Haverford's lone entrant in the triple jump, finishing sixth with a career-best jump of 12.04 meters (39'-6").

Haverford will next be in competition at home, as the Fords host the McElligott Invitational on Saturday, January 26. Events are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. inside the Alumni Field House.
