Men's Track & Field Retains Sixth Spot in National Ratings Index

USTFCCCA Ratings Index Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's indoor track & field team will enter February as the sixth-ranked team in the nation according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Ratings Index, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday afternoon. Haverford tallied 84.68 points in total for this week's ranking.

The Fords own the top marks in both the 3,000 meters (8:14.56) and mile (4:07.21) so far this season, with senior Greg Morgan holding both of the top times in Division III. Morgan established the mile time at the Seamus McElligott Invitational inside tthe Alumni Field House on Saturday afternoon. Morgan's time was also the ninth-best individual mark in Haverford indoor program history. The Hollidsaysburg, Pa. product had previously established the best 3,000 meter time in the nation just two weeks ago at the TCNJ Invitational at the Armory in New York City. 

The top team in the nation is defending cross country national champion North Central (Ill.), while Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Mount Union, and Wisconsin-La Crosse round out the top five squads in the rankings. The Fords are followed in the top 10 by MIT, Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Dubuque, and Southern Maine.

Haverford is back in action this weekend with a split schedule. On Saturday, February 2, a group of Fords will head to the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus, while another group will compete in the Villanova Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Complex on Staten Island.
