Katz and Moreland to Represent Haverford at NCAA Indoor Championships

NCAA Statement on Winter/Spring Championships

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford junior Matt Katz and sophomore Jamie Moreland have each been selected to represent Haverford at the 2020 NCAA Division III championships in Winston Salem, N.C. on Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14. Guilford College will serve as the host institution for the championships.

For each men's individual contest, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.

Katz and Moreland will both contest the mile run. Katz earned the 11th seed in the event (4:14.29) while Moreland took the 13th seed (4:14.41). Katz will run in the first heat, while Moreland will contest the second. The top three finishers in each of the two preliminary heats, in addition to the next four fastest times, will qualify for Saturday's finals. The mile prelims are slated for 2 p.m. on Friday, with the championship race to follow on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. This will be the first indoor nationals appearance for both Katz and Moreland. Haverford has had a bevy of recent success at the indoor meet, as Greg Morgan posted the national championship in the 3,000 meters a season ago, becoming Haverford's second straight winner in the event.

In total, Haverford now has 65 individual qualifiers and eight relay team qualifiers in program history. The program has seen 64 indoor All-Americans and 11 individual national champions. Morgan was the last mile qualifier for the Fords, taking fifth overall for an All-America showing in his junior season in 2019.
