Men's Track & Field Well Positioned for NCAA Qualifying Following Swarthmore Meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. –The Haverford men's outdoor track & field team posted a bevy of strong times at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on Monday evening. Several Fords helped their chances of qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in La Crosse, Wis. over Memorial Day weekend. For each event at the national championship meet, the top 20 declared student-athletes will be accepted into the competition.

Junior Greg Morgan was 10th in a 1,500-meter field that included some of the region's top middle distance runners. Morgan's career-best mark of 3:47.72 is currently the fourth-best in Division III and ranks as the 10th-fastest individual mark in the history of the program. Junior Dylan Gearinger finished 15th in 3:50.38, a career best and the eighth-fastest mark in Division III this season. Senior Henry Woods was 30th overall in a time of 3:55.07.

In the 800 meter run, junior Liam Lynch finished fourth overall, posting a time of 1:51.50. The time is a new career-best in the distance for the conference champion. The mark currently sits as the 13th best time in Division III and was the 10th-best in Haverford program history. Senior Tyler Fong finished in 39th overall with a career-best 1:57.26 while junior Chris Goings was the other Haverford finisher within the top 50, crossing in 1:59.04.

Junior Graham Peet crossed in 9:11.31 to highlight Haverford's contingent in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 12th overall. With results still rolling in from across the nation's last chance meets, Peet's time is currently within the top-20 in Division III. James Stadler was 22nd overall in 9:27.79 while senior Lincoln Satterthwaite was 27th in 9:36.55.

Senior Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe paced the Haverford contingent in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:02.73, good for a 29th place finish. David Watt crossed in 74th with a time of 15:43.09. Steve Gan rounded out the Haverford finishers with a time of 17:23.10.

The Fords will still have one final chance to qualify runners for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at the Mideast Regional meet at Widener on Thursday, May 17. Final selections for the national meet will be announced on Saturday, May 19.
