HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College men's track & field senior Greg Morgan has been named the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 7. The award represents the first outdoor honor for Morgan this season after previously taking home the award in four separate weeks of competition during the indoor season. Morgan, the national champion in the indoor 3,000 meters, has started strong during his final outdoor campaign, picking up event titles in convincing fashion during back-to-back weeks to begin the season.

This is Morgan's second career outdoor honor, joining a 2018 award after finishing as the top attached runner in the 1,500 meters at the Chester Quarry Classic with a time of 3:53.80.

Morgan took home the weekly award this week after winning the 800-meter title at the Bill Butler Invitational at West Chester. The Hollidaysburg, Pa. product finished in 1:55.49, the fastest time in the Centennial Conference so far this year and the 42nd strongest in the nation. Morgan also currently holds the fourth-fastest 5,000-meter mark in the nation as he recorded a time of 14:30.12 at Widener's Danny Curran Invitational a week ago. That time tops the Centennial Conference by more than 26 seconds.

The Fords will return to action on Saturday at the afformentioned Chester Quarry Classic on the campus of Widener. The meet is the first of two straight weekends of competition at Widener before Haverford hosts its lone home meet of the season, the Haverford Invitational, on Monday, April 22.
