HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford senior Greg Morgan has been named the Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference office announced on Monday. The honor is the seventh weekly award for the Hollidaysburg, Pa. product this season, and the third of the outdoor campaign. Morgan takes home the honor after representing Haverford at the prestigous Penn Relays on Thursday evening.

Featuring some of the best runners spanning high school through the professional ranks, this year marked the historic 125th anniversary of the oldest and largest track & field competition in the United States.

Under the lights of historic Franklin Field, Morgan closed Haverford's day in the 5,000 meters as he crossed the line in a time of 14:20.29, which stands as the fifth-fastest time in all of Division III so far this season. That time also ranks sixth in program history. The time tops his previous personal best by nearly 10 seconds, and is over four seconds quicker than his closest Centennial Conference peer this season. He placed 16th overall in his Penn Relays heat.

In addition to the 5,000m time, Morgan, the indoor 3,000-meter national champion, also holds the fastest 1,500-meter time in the nation this season, as he ran to that finish (3:48.10) at the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 20.

Morgan and the Fords now set their sights chiefly on the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships which run from Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5 at Muhlenberg College.
