HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College track & field junior Reza Eshghi has been named to the 2024 PhillySIDA Academic All-Area team, the organization announced Friday morning.

Eshghi is one of ten standout student-athletes on the Academic All-Area team, which includes Performer of the Year Sean Dolan from Villanova and three representatives from the University of Pennsylvania: Kampton Kam, James Rhoades, and Scott Toney. The team also features Matthew Conway (Rowan), Samuel Knowles (Widener), Liam Rivard (La Salle), Cole Stanchina (Chestnut Hill), and Aiden Tobin (Ursinus).

Eshghi, a two-time second-team All-America selection in the indoor mile and outdoor 1,500 meters this season, was named CSC Academic All-District for the second consecutive year earlier this week.

The economics major from Lincoln, Mass., also won four CC individual championships during the track seasons and qualified for the NCAA Championships during the cross country season in fall 2023.

The Academic All-Area team is nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 colleges and universities in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Both the men's and women's teams consist of ten student-athletes each, with a Performer of the Year also selected. Nominated student-athletes must be in at least their second year at their current institution and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.30.
