
GENEVA, Ohio - Haverford College senior Peter LaRochelle finished 11th in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Championships on Thursday evening on the track at the SPIRE Institute, capping an illustrious Haverford career with a second-team All-America finish in the event. Second Team All-America status is awarded to finishers 9-16 in each individual event at the national championships.
LaRochelle crossed the finish line in 30:08.18, as the Great Barrington, Mass. product was in 15th in the early goings before briefly falling to the back of the pack at the 2800-meter mark. From that point he climbed steadily, settling into 11th at the 5,200-meter mark where he would stay for the remainder of the night, posting his fastest lap on the final push.
A two-time USTFCCCA All-American in cross country, LaRochelle was the Metro Region Runner of the Year and individual champion in both 2023 and 2024. A standout in the classroom, LaRochelle was named CSC Academic All-America in 2023-24 and has earned numerous academic honors during his Haverford career. On the track side, he garnered USTFCCCA All-Region recognition three straight years in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters, and was the 2025 Centennial Conference champion at 10,000 meters.
The 2025 Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships now continue for the Fords, with senior Reza Eshghi set to line up on the start line for the 5,000 meters on Saturday, May 24 at 4 p.m. in the final men's individual event of the competition from the SPIRE Institute.
