USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll
Mideast Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. -The Haverford College men's cross country team is slotted 20th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)  Week Two Division III National Coaches Poll, the organization announced this week. Haverford also checks in at third in the latest release of the Mideast Regional Ranking.

In the national poll, North Central (Ill.), Williams, Washington-St. Louis, Wartburg, and Wisconsin-La Crosse make up the top five squads according to the vote of Division III coaches.

No. 6 Carnegie Mellon of the UAA and No. 9 Johns Hopkins are the top two teams in the Mideast Region rankings. The Fords check in one place above No. 24 Dickinson in the regional poll, while Moravian rounds out the top five, surging to that placement after previously being unranked.

Last week, Haverford hosted the annual Main Line Invitational, finishing as the Top Division III squad in the meet, outpacing conference foes Swarthmore and Muhlenberg. Senior co-captain Sam McCalpin finished ninth overall (20:23.4) to lead the pack. Sophomore Peter Buckley was the second Haverford runner to cross the finish line, taking 17th place overall in a time of 20:39.4. First-year Ryan Kredell (20:41.5), sophomore Max Brelig (20:43.0), and senior Conor Madden (20:48.7) also scored for Haverford. The Fords scorers averaged a time of 20:40, 30 seconds faster than third-place Swarthmore.

A select group of Haverford runners head to the Dan Talbot '91 Open at Rose Tree Park in Media, Pa. this afternoon (5:30 p.m.). The Paul Short Run at Lehigh (Oct. 5) looms on the horizon, as one of the nation's largest cross country meets is sure to be an early season challenge for the Fords.
