USTFCCCA All-Academic Individuals
HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's cross country team has earned designation as a U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) 2019 Division III Men's All-Academic Team, the organization announced in a release on Thursday afternoon.
To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater and competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The Fords were one of 172 men's teams to receive the honor following the 2019 cross country season. Haverford has a sustained history of earning the All-Academic Team award, as the program has won the overall Scholar Team of the Year three times (2007, 2010, 2011) and has earned the All-Academic Team designation in each year of the award's history dating back to 1996.
In addition to the Academic Team Award, Haverford saw six student-athletes earn All-Academic Individual honors. In order to qualify for this prestigious award, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finished in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
Seniors Hiro Kawakatsu, Conor Madden, and Sam McCalpin joined sophomore Peter Buckley and first years Aaron Bratt and Ryan Kredell in earning the honor. McCalpin, the reigning Centennial Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year, has earned the award for three consecutive seasons. The other five Haverford honorees received the distinction for the first time in their careers. Overall, there were 309 men who were named All-Academic Individuals in NCAA Division III.
Haverford competed at the NCAA Championships for the 27th consecutive season in November, finishing 27th overall in Louisville, Kentucky.
