No. 18 Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at Main Line Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The 18th-ranked Haverford College Men's Cross Country team put a solid foot forward at the four-mile Main Line Invitational on Friday, finishing second in an eight team event that featured Division I squads Villanova and Penn, along with rival Swarthmore, conference foe Muhlenberg, and squads from Stockton, Elizabethtown, and Widener. Haverford was second to only Villanova, who is No. 16 in the Division I Poll, scoring 54 points on an ideal late afternoon for racing at the Alumni Cross Country Course. 

Haverford put two runners in the top 10 scorers, as Ryan Kredell was the fifth to toe the line, crossing as the top Division III finisher in 19:30.5. Following Kredell in 12th place overall was Nathaniel Leighninger, who crossed in 20:03.2 as Leighninger was the fourth Division III runner to cross on Friday. 

Aaron Bratt was the next Haverford athlete to finish the course, taking a 19th place overall finish with a time of 20:10.2, while Peter LaRochelle was right behind in 20th (20:16.1). The Haverford pack continued with Max Brelig notching 21st (20:23.2) and Miles Colescott right behind in 22nd (20:26.8). In total, Haverford put six runners in the top 25. Reza Eshghi was 26th (20:35.9) overall as Haverford's seventh to cross the line. Jamie Moreland crossed 28th (20:41.0). Peter Buckley (32nd, 20:49.3) and Nico Tripeny (33rd, 20:55.2) were the next to finish for the Fords while Seamus Fraser (40th, 21:04.7) and Ryan Quenemoen (43rd, 21:09.6) also crossed within the top 50. 

Debutant Jakob Maiwald (21:41.8) crossed in 59th, while Matthew Denton (61st, 21:42.2), Sammy Schindel (62nd, 21:45.8), and Flyn Meadows (66th, 21:48.8) also finished under 22 minutes. 

After hosting both the Alumni/Open Race and the Main Line Invitational, the Fords will head out on the road for the first time this season on Friday, September 30, taking to the Paul Short Run at Lehigh. Races will begin at 9:30 a.m.
