HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford junior catcher/infielder Abby Marquis has been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) first-team All-Region V selection, the organization announced in a release on Monday afternoon.

Marquis, a product of Albuquerque, N.M. becomes the first Haverford player to garner inclusion on an All-Region first team and the fifth player overall to earn All-Region honors from the organization. Marquis is also the first player to earn any All-Region designation since pitcher Temma Levis took home the honors following a standout campaign in 2019. The only catcher on the first team, Marquis had a breakout season establishing herself as one of the premier offensive threats in the Centennial Conference.

She appeared in all 34 games for the Fords and provided a middle of the order power presence to help guide the squad through the CC slate. Marquis roped a program-record 20 doubles and hit a whopping .422 while slugging .696 with a pair of home runs, 25 RBI, 15 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.

Marquis led the CC in doubles (20) and finished second in total bases (71) while logging top 10 finishes in RBI, average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and homers. Defensively, she guided a young pitching staff behind the plate and finished fourth among conference catchers in runners caught stealing (6).

A total of 384 student-athletes from 197 schools comprise the 2022 NFCA Division III All-Region teams. The yearly awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region. All honorees now move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced on May 24.
