Capizzi Nabs Centennial Player of the Week Award for Third Time This Season

HAVERFORD, Pa. - For the third time in the 2019-20 season, Haverford senior guard Anna-Sophia Capizzi has been named the Centennial Conference women's basketball Player of the Week.The Chevy Chase, Md. product picked up her third weekly award after another torrid week, as she continues to light up scoreboards in gyms across the Centennial landscape. 

Capizzi led Haverford to a 2-0 week as the Fords pulled to 12-1 in conference play. She averaged 25 points, 3.5 steals, and 2.0 rebounds per contest, shooting an impressive 57.1 percent from the floor. Against Ursinus in a Wednesday night contest, Capizzi tallied 22 points overall, including four three-pointers. The biology major also tallied five steals, a new career best, while collecting four rebounds and two assists. In Saturday's win over Dickinson, Capizzi came just one point away from matching her career-best, adding 28 points on a career-high 12 made field goals as the Fords pulled away in the second half to breeze past the Red Devils. 

Capizzi is currently the Centennial Conference's leading scorer (19.7 ppg), and leads the conference with 52 made three-pointers. Capizzi sits in third in three-point field goal percentage (41.3), fourth in overall field goal percentage (50.6), eighth in steals (36), and 18th in blocks (13). Looking at the national landscape, Capizzi is 29th in Division III in points per game and 20th in three-pointers made per game (2.89). 

Haverford will return to action tonight, wrapping up the Bi-Co home-and-home series with a trip to Bryn Mawr at 7 p.m. The game kicks off a busy stretch that sees Haverford on the road for three contests this week. The Fords will head to Washington College on Thursday (6 p.m.), before a highly anticipated showdown at first-place No. 22 Gettysburg on Saturday (1 p.m.)
