HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's basketball (7-3, 4-2 CC) team registered an 72-25 victory over visiting Bryn Mawr (3-6, 0-6 CC) on Wednesday evening inside the Gooding '84 Arena. The Fords were paced by another double-double effort from reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week Kayla Robinson, as the junior added 12 points and 14 rebounds in just 22 minutes of action. Robinson was the only scorer in double digits for either squad, as the Fords were able to work in a wide range of reserves and younger players in the second half.

The story of the contest was the advantage on the glass as the Fords held a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Those offensive boards helped lengthen key possessions as the Fords built their lead and handed the hosts an 18-0 lead in second chance points on the evening.

Haverford began the game with a strong performance from the field, scoring the first 19 points of the contest as Landau and Robinson helped key the Fords in the first four minutes of action. Robinson had seven rebounds in the methodical run, leading all scorers with five points in the stretch and prompting a timeout from the Owls with 2:33 to go in the first. The lead eventually stretched to 26-2 following back-to-back buckets from Lauren Howard and Summer Ryan, as the Owls called for another timeout with 5:32 remaining in the first. The barrage from the Fords continued with Ally Landau and Gia Flamini connecting to push the lead to 28 at 30-2. Sydney Cummings connected on a buzzer-beater to make the score 39-4 going into the intermission.

Haverford was able to work in a grouping of reserves with first years Michela Jones, Abigail Clark and Zoe Carlson making an impact in the second half while Fiona Flynn saw her longest stint of the season. In total, Haverford poured in 35 points from the bench.

A fired up Gooding Arena crowd was able to witness the home debuts of many players who figure to be stalwarts of the program going forward as the second half was largely left to that young reserve grouping to deliver a few highlight reel plays, with Jones connecting on a pair of treys and Carlson notching four points and two rebounds.  Haverford held Bryn Mawr leading scorer Jessica Smith to just five points as she came into the contest averaging a team-best 17.5 points per game.

The Fords will next wrap up the 2021 portion of the schedule on Saturday, December 11 as women's basketball hosts No. 23 Gettysburg at 1 p.m in a rematch of the last three Centennial Conference championship games. The contest will be followed by the Haverford men taking on the Bullets at approximately 3 p.m.
