HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's basketball team (9-5, 6-4 CC) completed a season series sweep of Ursinus (2-11, 2-6 CC) on Thursday night inside Gooding Arena, prevailing by a final score of 60-48 behind a career-best 24 points from Ally Landau. The Fords won despite the rebounding battle going the way of the Bears, capitalizing on Ursinus fouls to convert 19 shots from the free-throw line on the evening.

Kayla Robinson was a force in the paint yet again, collecting 12 rebounds. Cortlyn Morris added 12 points, a pair of rebounds, and a block to her totals. Haverford opened the contest almost flawlessly, to the tune of a 7-0 run that was punctuated by an early trey from Gia Flamini. Ursinus was determined to stay in the contest, eventually battling back to tie the score at 9-9 behind a layup from Charlotte Dilello.

From that point, the two teams struggled to find separation through about the midway point of the second half as Landau poured in a three-pointer with under six minutes to go, extending the Haverford lead to five at 18-13. Ursinus had an immediate answer, trimming the lead to two, and eventually battled back to tie the score with 5:01 to play.

The two teams went into the intermission knotted at 20-20, with the Fords finding success in building a lead after the intermission, taking a 28-23 advantage following Robinson's bucket with 6:27 remaining in the third stanza. Ursinus stuck around, eager to steal a road win as they cut to within three with under two minutes left in the third. Back-to-back three pointers from Flamini and Lauren Howard put the Fords up nine in the closing moments of the frame, and despite the best efforts of Ursinus post player Chinwe Irondi, who added a double-double effort with 18 points and 15 rebounds in an impressive showing, it was an uphill climb for the visiting Bears to regain momentum.

Ursinus was back within seven with 3:11 remaining in regulation, but a strong free-throw performance and a solid reserve stint from Fiona Flynn helped put things out of reach. Landau excelled from the charity stripe as part of her career night, knocking down eight of her 12 attempts to seal the win.

Women's Basketball has now won eight straight in the all-time series with the Bears. Haverford will now face yet another quick turnaround as the busy week of Centennial Conference play continues with a road contest at Dickinson on Saturday.

Game time for the matinee contest in Carlisle is slated for 2 p.m. and will be the first game of a doubleheader that sees the Red Devils hosting the Haverford men at approximately 4 p.m. The Fords defeated Dickinson by a 59-47 final at home earlier this season.
