HAVERFORD, Pa. – Snowy and unsafe road conditions prohibited the Haverford College women's fencing team from competing at the 2019 National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association (NIWFA) Championships over the weekend.

With that news, the Fords will now turn their attention to this weekend's NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Championship at Lafayette on Saturday, March 9. Widely regarded as the toughest of the NCAA's four regional championships, the Fords will still be well-represented with six individuals who have qualified to that championship.

Sophomore Hanna Kopits will be Haverford's highest seeded entrant this weekend as her No. 19 seed in foil is the second-highest ranking among Division III foilists. She will be joined by Golda Glasser (No. 30) in the foil competition. This marks the first time since 2014 that Haverford has sent multiple foilists to the regional championship on the women's side. Haverford has qualified all three of its epeeists for the first time since 2012 as Maia Carvalho (No. 27), Katie Bradley (No. 30), and Sarah Blossom (No. 32) will all compete. Emily Brown also qualified for the sabre competition as the No. 35 seed for that weapon.
