HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford senior Allie Gibbons has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team for the third consecutive season, the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) announced this week. Gibbons becomes the first three-time honoree from the Haverford women's lacrosse program since Josie Ferri '12 was honored in 2010-12. The pair are the only two women's lacrosse student-athletes from Haverford to garner the plaudit three times. 

The squad is nominated by and voted on by the sports information offices of more than 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metro area. In order to be eligible for academic all-area consideration, a student-athlete must be in at least his second year at the institution and own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher.

Gibbons, consistently among the top student-athletes in the Centennial Conference, represented Haverford at the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game and was named a Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's At-Large team selection, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) last month.

A psychology major with a minor in neuroscience, Gibbons was named an Ambler Scholar Athlete, a distinction given to the 16 senior student-athletes with the top GPAs in their class at Haverford. Gibbons was also named the Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2018. Gibbons is al three-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.

The Baltimore, Md. native was a first-team All-Centennial selection in 2019 as she had an impressive senior season on the attack. She started all 18 games for the Fords, logging 81 points and 69 goals, the second-most in program single-season history. Gibbons tallied multiple goals in each contest this season, and paced the Centennial in goals by a wide margin. Her 30 goals in conference games was second in conference. Gibbons also tallied 21 caused turnovers, including 11 against conference competition. Against Christopher Newport in the season opener, she  set a new program record with an 11-point outing in Haverford's 21-14 win. Gibbons also matched the program's single-game goals record in that late February triumph over the Captains.

Gibbons finished her season 39th in the nation in goals scored. She leaves the program fourth in career history in points (224) and goals (178) as she joined rarefied error as one of just seven players in Haverford history to rack up 200 points. Her goals per game tally (2.62) and points per game mark (3.29) are also in the top 10 in program career history.

Maggie Stella of Division II West Chester University was named the Academic All-Area Performer of the Year for Women's Lacrosse.
