Women's Lacrosse Unveils 2020 Schedule

Full 2020 Women's Lacrosse Schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. - After a thrilling 2019 campaign in which the team won 10 games and was ranked as high as No. 21 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll, the Haverford women's lacrosse team has unveiled a challenging 2020 slate that includes 16 overall contests, and 8 home dates at Swan Field.

For the first time since 2013, Haverford will begin the season at home, as Moravian visits Swan Field for the lid-lifter (Feb. 22). The Fords will be facing off with Moravian for the first time since 2004, a 12-5 win in Haverford. The first road contest of the season is a rematch with TCNJ (Feb. 25). Haverford pulled off the 12-10 upset over the then-No. 3 Lions last season at home, springboarding the squad into the thick of the national rankings.

Haverford then returns to campus for a pair of home contests, facing off with Albright (Mar. 4) and Scranton (Mar. 7). The visit from Albright will be the first all-time meeting between the two sides. The Fords will then look to avenge a narrow 13-12 loss to then-No. 25 Scranton a season ago, with the Royals making the trek to Swan Field for a Saturday afternoon contest.

The spring break slate will see Haverford make its way progressively southbound, as a Wednesday matchup at St. Mary's (Md.) (Mar. 11) serves as a prelude to a Saturday contest at Christopher Newport (Mar. 14). Haverford last made the trip to St. Mary's in 2012, and escaped in a 16-15 overtime thriller at CNU in 2018. The annual matchup with Cabrini returns to Radnor under the lights (Mar. 18), and conference play then opens at McDaniel (Mar. 21). A highly anticipated showdown with Franklin & Marshall is on the docket for March 28 at home, wrapping up the first full month of the season.

April begins in earnest with a trip to Muhlenberg (Apr. 1), before Haverford hosts a playoff opponent from a season ago in Dickinson (Apr. 4). A trip to defending conference champion and NCAA quarterfinalist Gettysburg (Apr. 11) comes before a three-game homestand including battles with Washington College (Apr. 15), Ursinus (Apr. 18), and Bryn Mawr (Apr. 22). The regular season finale is a short jaunt to Swarthmore (Apr. 25), as the Fords look to take a Hood Trophy point against the rival Garnet in an always spirited contest.

If Haverford qualifies for the Centennial Conference tournament in 2020, the journey to the NCAA tournament would begin with the Centennial Conference First Round contest (Apr. 29) before the semifinals and finals are slated for May 2 and 3 at the home of the conference's top regular season finisher.

Women's lacrosse advanced to the semifinals of the Centennial Conference tournament for the first time since 2015 last season, and defeated a pair of nationally-ranked opponents in the process. Haverford has made the postseason in seven of the past 10 seasons, including each of head coach Katie Zichelli's first two years leading the program.
