Anna Meyers Named Third-Team All-America by Inside Lacrosse

Maverik Women's Division III Media All-Americans

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford senior defender Anna Meyers was selected as a 2020 Maverik/Inside Lacrosse Women's Division III Media All-American on Friday morning, earning a slot on the third team. A product of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Meyers adds the All-America designation to a bevy of postseason awards throughout her Haverford career. Meyers is also a two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Second-team All-Metro region selection, earning that award in both 2018 and 2019. She was named to first-team Centennial Conference honors during each of those campaigns.

A stalwart on the backline, the economics major is a co-captain of the Fords as well as an academic standout, with a Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll selection in each season of eligibility in addition to a slot on the 2019 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. In her four years at Haverford, Meyers ranks 12th in career history in caused turnovers with 70. During a truncated 2020 campaign, Meyers added her first two career points, dishing out a pair of assists in Haverford's triumph over Albright at Swan Field on March 4. She later finished the abbreviated senior season with a flourish, adding a career-best five caused turnovers in Haverford's eventual spring finale against St. Mary's (Md.) on March 11. Meyers led the Centennial Conference in ground balls (16) and was fifth in caused turnovers (11) at the time of the season's hiatus.

ILWomen contributors and members of lacrosse media were tasked with choosing the season's top 12 attackers, nine midfielders, 12 defenders, top three draw specialists, and top three goalies. Honorable mention selections were chosen based on players who received multiple votes, but did not accrue the totals of the first, second, or third honorees.

Meyers is the program's first All-America selection since Josie Ferri '12 was named to third-team IWLCA/Brine All-America honors following the 2011 campaign. Ferri's honor that season was the first All-America nod in more than a decade for a Haverford player.
