HAVERFORD, Pa. – Lindsay Wytkind has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Haverford College women's soccer team record a pair of shutouts as a member of the defense. The Fords, who have gone 6-1-1 with five shutouts over their last eight matches, beat Ursinus 2-0 on Wednesday before battling Gettysburg to a scoreless draw on Saturday.

Playing alongside a very stout back line for the Fords, Wytkind has started each of Haverford's 10 matches this season. Her work in the defensive third helped the Fords limit Ursinus to just two shots and one corner during the midweek Centennial Conference victory. Over the 110 minute contest on Saturday, Gettysburg took 12 shots but just five of those attempts were on target.

Entering her third season as a starter, the junior co-captain has played in 41 career matches with 39 starts. During 22 of those appearances, the Fords' defense has held the opposition scoreless. That total includes 10 during Wytkind's first year with the program in 2016 when the Fords recorded 10 shutouts as a team to come within one clean sheet of breaking the school record that was set in 1995.

Women's soccer will look to continue its winning ways this week with two more Centennial Conference road trips. On Wednesday, the Fords trek to Chestertown for a 7 p.m. match under the lights against Washington College. Haverford will be back on the road this coming Saturday for a 1 p.m. start against third-place McDaniel as the Green Terror sit two points ahead of the Fords in the Centennial Conference standings but have played one additional match.
