HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team kept its shutout streak alive with a strong 3-0 win against Muhlenberg in its Centennial Conference opener. With the latest victory, the Fords (7-1, 1-0 CC) extended their school-record shutout streak to six consecutive matches. The Fords have now won seven consecutive matches overall to tie the program record which had been accomplished four times previously. The last time Haverford won seven straight overall was during the 2005 season.

The Fords struck early before adding two insurance goals during the final half of play. Saede Eifrig got the offensive attack started with her third goal of the season during the sixth minute of play. Eifrig's goal came shortly after the first corner kick of the afternoon. An initial shot was blocked on the ball served into the box, but Eifrig was in prime position to collect the loose possession. Eifrig has now scored during each of Haverford's last three victories and has eight goals for her career.

Haverford held a 12-3 advantage in shots after the first half of play, but it would be another quick strike in the second half that pushed the Fords lead to 2-0. Celia Page scored her sixth goal of the season just over six minutes into the second half. Page's goal came after she blasted a shot that looked to be initially saved, but still had enough momentum to roll into the far corner of the goal. Gabrielle Cipriano was credited with her second assist of the season after some fancy moves with the ball put her teammate in position to score.

Another rocket shot from Kendra Griesman during the 75th minute of play capped Haverford's scoring for the afternoon. Griesman was able to beat the Mules' keeper from outside of the 18 for her first goal of the season. Now in her senior season, Griesman has five goals throughout her career.

Haverford finished the contest with a resounding 21-6 advantage in shots. Hannah Friedrich came up with a pair of saves to preserve the shutout for the Fords, while her counterpart from Muhlenberg made nine saves to prevent any further damage from the Haverford offense. The varied offensive attack for the Fords continued as eight different players recorded a shot in the win. Reigning Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week Leanne Ludwick led those efforts with six shots on the afternoon.

After playing six of its first eight matches of the season at home, the Fords will now have a chance to hold sole possession of the school record for consecutive wins when they head to Franklin & Marshall this Saturday for a 3 p.m. start in Lancaster.
