Lindsay Wytkind Repeats CC Defenisve Player of the Week Honors

Centennial Conference release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Lindsay Wytkind has been named the Centennial Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week as announced by conference officials. Wytkind's honor is the third of her career and comes after the Fords posted two more shutouts against Washington College and McDaniel.

During Haverford's scoreless draw against Washington College, the Fords' senior captain helped keep that match level during the first overtime period by clearing a ball off of the end line to prevent the Shorewomen from a 1-0 overtime victory. Wytkind followed that effort up by assisting on the game-winning goal during Haverford's 2-0 win over McDaniel. That result vaulted the Fords into a tie for first place in the Centennial Conference standings. Wytkind's assist was her first since she tallied a pair of helpers during her rookie campaign.

Haverford's defense has accounted for half of the conference's eight defensive player of the week accolades this season. In addition to Wytkind's second straight honor, Hannah Friedrich (9/10) and Emily Thissen (9/17) earned this same recognition during the month of September. Haverford has recorded 10 shutouts during its first 14 matches. That total is just one shy of the program-record 11 shutouts during the 1995 campaign. Shutting out opponents in 71.4% of the team's matches, that mark is the seventh-best in all of Division III. The Fords' 0.415 GAA is 16th nationally.

A four-year starter for the Fords, Wytkind has appeared in 62 career matches. A two-year team captain, Wytkind earned honorable mention All-Centennial Conference accolades a year ago and has twice been named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. Rarely leaving the pitch, Wytkind ranks eighth in program history with 5,213 minutes of playing time logged during her career.

Women's soccer is unbeaten in its last 13 matches, posting an overall record of 11-1-2 (5-0-2 CC). The Fords are currently tied with Dickinson for first place in the Centennial Conference and will play the Red Devils this Saturday in Carlisle. That battle for the top spot in the Centennial Conference standings will get underway at 1 p.m.
