Costa Rica Blog Day Five: Zip Lining and Game Two!

Costa Rica Blog Day Five: Zip Lining and Game Two!

Haverford Women's Soccer in Costa Rica: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - We had an early start to the morning to get to our ziplining adventure. After being driven in the back of a truck up a mountain, we strapped in to fly down 10 different ziplines. Each zipline was an opportunity to look around at the beautiful green mountains as we flew through the trees. It was fun to watch the various techniques (or lack thereof) employed by each teammate as they came down zipline #3 hanging upside down.

Following ziplining, we had some down time at the hotel to eat lunch, pack up, and hang out by the pool. After checking out, we headed back towards San Jose for game #2.

Our second and final game was at 4:00, so the sun was beating down. The opposition, LDA, was very skilled and challenged us in our new formation, but we pulled away to a 5-3 win. All 5 goals were scored on corners, which was a rewarding result of working on set pieces as a team this year. It was also great to see 5 different goalscorers: Julia Noppenberger, Abigale Baker, JJ Stein, Liv McMillan, and Sarah Klink all tallied a goal apiece.

After belting out everything from Adele to Tyler Childers on the bus, we stopped for a final team dinner, then arrived back at our original hotel in San Jose.

Despite coming off of a full semester of college and finals week, I think it's safe to say most of us could've done with a day or two more here. We're all leaving this trip with great soccer experiences, but even more importantly, further love and appreciation for every single person on this team.

Being the team's choice of ballad to belt together throughout the trip, the song of the (last!) day is "All My Love" by Noah Kahan.
