HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College Women's Soccer team (6-7-1, 2-5 CC), dropped a tightly-contested clash with McDaniel (7-2-4, 3-1-3 CC), 1-0, on a rainy and chilly day on Walton Field.

The Fords saw the first hopeful chance of the game in the 16th minute, as Julia Noppenberger steered a shot on frame, only to be denied by Green Terror keeper Lauren Hoolahan.

The 17th minute saw an even more promising chance, as off a set piece, Grace Haskell headed a ball that rang off the post. Haskell had the ball conveniently bounce back to her, as she ripped a rebound on net, before the attempt was terrifically parried away by Hoolahan.  The following ten minutes saw the intensity pick up, as J J Stein picked up a yellow card in the 24th minute, preceded by Sarah Klink earning a yellow card in the 27th minute.

One more troubling shot by Klink occurred before half, an attempt that was denied by Hoolahan once again. A scoreless first half saw the Scarlet and Black outshot McDaniel 5-2, with 15 total fouls between the two teams.

Lily Buyer checked in for the Fords for the second half, getting called into action in the 60th minute. The sophomore keeper successfully turned away a dangerous shot on goal by Green Terror defender Allison Storm.

After another Noppenberger shot was saved in the 74th minute, the Green Terror had a vital chance of their own in the 76th minute. Off of a free kick, Storm whipped in a dangerous ball towards the penalty kick spot. Fifth-year defender Kirsten Crowley rose to the sky and headed a ball backwards into the net to give McDaniel the 1-0 lead. The crucial goal ended up being the only tally of the contest as the game ended in a  clean sheet win for the Green Terror.

The Scarlet and Black were led in shots by Haskell who had three, while Noppenberger trailed right behind with two.

After a two game homestand, the Fords find themselves traveling to Baltimore for their next contest, as Haverford takes on No. 8 Johns Hopkins on October 21. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
